Teen Counseling

Family Counseling

Our teen therapists have years of experience in school systems and teen-focused programs, so they understand what it takes to tie into their world. We use a combination of talk therapy, mindfulness activities, music and art to connect with their world.

Parenting is tough work. We work with  families to focus on strategies that help build their emotional connection with their teen and work through the challenges that face each member of the family.

What can parents expect?

We know it is important to get parents involved, but we also know teens are worried about how much we will share. As therapists, we will ALWAYS inform a parent if we feel their teen is in danger of hurting themselves or hurting others. Otherwise, we generally try to keep the details of what we discuss more confidential. This helps the teen feel that it is a safe place to come and be authentic about where they are at, what is bothering them and get the support they need.

We usually have meetings with the parents to learn more about the situation and sometimes do family counseling if we feel it will help.
