Today I talked to a man who has spent hours thinking about killing himself. His neighbors call him names, talk about him loudly in the hallways where he lives so he can hear them, and have said, also within his hearing, they don’t care whether he loses his housing, becomes homeless or kills himself because he’s “crazy,” “a fag,” a “freak” and a “drug addict.”

Actually, he is none of these things, though even if he were he should not be stigmatized by his neighbors.
