I am a licensed associate marriage and family therapist dedicated to transforming lives through professional guidance, psychoeducation, communication skills, mindfulness, and empathy for ourselves, our partners, and family members. My journey began while working for a non-profit organization, where I discovered my recruiting and human resources strengths. As a divorced single mother of a child with special needs, I successfully navigated the challenges of working as a single mom. Naturally, I felt drawn to support other single mothers facing similar responsibilities. At the urging of some close colleagues and clients, I decided to use my skills and passion in a different way and enrolled in a masters degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy. My experience in that program solidified my belief that I had made the right decision.
I am enthusiastic about working with couples, individuals, and families. One of the greatest advantages of a later career change is the wealth of life experiences I bring to my practice. I am fully committed to transforming lives by guiding clients in healing from past trauma. My approach is integrated and incorporates various theories, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), the Gottman Method for Couples, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Through psychoeducation and collaborative exploration, I encourage clients to examine different perspectives, enhance their communication skills, articulate their needs and desires, take ownership of their behaviors, and develop active listening skills. This process ultimately enriches everyday interactions and deepens relationships.
On a personal note…
I enjoy attending community art and craft fairs, farmer’s markets, and boutique shops when I’m not working. I love listening to music, dining with friends and family, and watching reality TV shows and movies, especially romantic comedies. I enjoy snuggling with my two dogs and taking part in meditation, yoga, aromatherapy, and Pilates. My favorite travel destination is Sedona, AZ, where I appreciate the feel of dry heat and love watching the sunset from the clifftops—there’s nothing like it.
