What is a Couples Intensive?
A couples intensive is a service we offer for clients in & around Woodstock, Illinois, which consists of an increase in the length of time spent with the counselor and couple. This is a great opportunity for the following situations:
- Couples looking to kick-start their journey so the beginning phase of assessment does not occur over multiple weeks.
- Couples who feel like they need more than an hour in order to do the work they want to within a session.
- Couples with significant scheduling difficulty who would prefer to do multiple hours in a day rather than navigate a busy schedule with work, kids, school, etc.
- Couples who feel like they need to make progress & see results as quickly as possible.
How long is a Couples Intensive and what is the cost?
Intensives can be done in the following increments:
$450: 3 hours
$800: 6 hours (9am-12pm, 1pm-4pm)
$900: 8 hours (8am-12pm, 1pm-5pm)
$1,750: 2 days (Saturday, Sunday)
$2,000: 2.5 days (Friday night, Saturday, Sunday)

Where will the Couples Intensive occur?
Typically, our couples intensives happen at our office in Woodstock, IL. If you are coming from out of town, please consider visiting Real Woodstock to learn more about what the town has to offer for lodging, amenities, restaurants, and entertainment. Woodstock offers a historic town square with access to multiple restaurants, shops, a chocolate bar, movie theater, the Opera House, and a farmer’s market. Woodstock is known for it’s charm, arts and music, and as the location for the film Groundhogs Day, featuring Bill Murray.
In select cases, the therapist can come to the couple. Call for more information if you would like to discuss an onsite intensive. (State of IL only)
Will insurance cover this?
Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the couples intensive service. While Pivotal Counseling Centers are in network with many insurances and do accept insurance for regular one hour sessions, we are unable to do so with this sort of service.
Who offers this service?
Our couples intensive services are offered by Lindsay Keisman, owner of Pivotal Counseling Center. Lindsay has extensive training in an evidenced-based couples counseling approach called The Gottman Method. She is Level 3 trained and in the process of becoming certified. She has worked in the mental health and addiction field for 12 years, and has additional expertise in organizational psychology, executive coaching, and working with entrepreneurs. She is married to her husband and they have 3 children.
