Do you live in or near Lake in the Hills, Illinois? At our counseling center, we provide resources for people with process addictions.
People with a process addiction struggle to stop repeating what they are doing, in spite of any consequences they experience toward their health, family, finances, or career. Even though process addiction does not involve the introduction of a foreign chemical to the brain, studies show that repeating the behavior releases chemicals in the brain that gives a pleasurable feeling. This pleasurable feeling is amplified for a person with a process addiction, which then causes the person to repeat the behavior in order to feel the high they get from the behavior.
Process addictions can include addictions to:
- Gambling
- Pornography
- Sex
- Technology
- Internet
- Cell phone
- Shopping
- Tanning
We provide treatment and resources for process addictions at our counseling center in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.
